Japanese School Girls Spend the Whole Day on their Mobile Phones

Assuming a working day consists of 7 hours, then Japanese High School girls are spending the whole day on their mobile phones, a survey revealed. According to the survey by Digital Arts, a Japanese school girl spends an average of 7 hours on the phone.

The data was obtained from a sample of 618 teenagers of ages 10 to 18 years. In the same survey, Japanese school boys spent an average of only 4 hours a day on the mobile phone. So here is the data:

  • The average Japanese girl spends an average of 7 hours a day on her phone
  • 10% of Japanese girls spend 15 hours a day on the phone
  • Japanese boys spend up to 4 hours a day on the phone
  • Over 40% of girls surveyed spend 6 hours daily on the phone
  • Over 95% of Japanese girls have their own mobile phone
  • Over 80% of Japanese boys have their own mobile phone
  • Many boys and girls use their phone for social networking chatting and watch mobile videos
  • More than 50% of high school teenagers use their phone while talking to other people in person, eating or watching TV
  • More than 50% of high school girls use their phone while talking to other people in person.
  • 40% of high school teenagers are not willing to part with their phone habits
  • Japan is a high tech country and more teenagers are finding companionship in tech gadgets than in face-to-face socialization
Some teenagers realize that they should be doing their homework rather than wasting their time online. It has been revealed that addiction to mobile phone is similar to drug addiction. If you have been using your phone for a long time to browse the web or chat, you would realize how much difficult it is to resist the temptation to pick up your phone when you think of something.
