American Girls Caught Vandalizing Colosseum Walls in Rome

The Colosseum,Rome,Italy - Wikimedia

The Colosseum in Italy, Rome is a famous historical building visited by tourists from around the world. When two young American women from California visited the site on a tourist mission, they decided to leave their mark on the walls of the Colosseum.Maybe they thought they would be famous like somebody who has their name and star immortalized on the Hollywood Hall of Fame. The girls scratched two initials eight inches long on the walls, and took a selfie but this vandalism or graffiti as you might be want to call it, did not go unnoticed by the site keepers.

The two girls were arrested by the police and charged with damaging a building of historical importance. When asked why they did it, they said they thought it was not a serious matter and promised not to do it again, a lesson learnt.

Other reports say the girls were among a group of tourists visiting the site but they left the group and scratched the letters “J” and “N” on the walls.

This is not the first time that tourists have been caught defacing the Colosseum. In 2014; five tourists from Russia, Canada, Australia and Brazil were caught eking out their marks on the walls of the monument. Over 6 million people visit Rome each year to see the Colosseum. It seems the site keepers who caught the girls were not watching after vandals but just beefing up security to counter potential terrorist attacks by ISIS since the bombing of a news agency in France.
