It turns out staying sober at a bar will keep the bartender away, and
getting drunk will make you the best target for the bartender to make you even
more drunk. A drunk client is a bartender’s best friend, and more so if you are
a girl or woman, a new scientific research has revealed.
Norwegian scientists sent 9 Norwegian female students to act like a
drunkard at local bars in the towns of Olso, Bergen and Trondheim. The girls,
who were sent to 153 bars in the previously named towns, feigned being drunk
and interesting results were obtained from the study.
At the bars, the female students who pretended
to be drunk were the best target for bartenders to ply them with more alcohol.
It was revealed that the probability of the girls being served with beer was
82% higher than male patrons. The probability increased when the conditions in
the bar and time of the day were different, a dark bar or club with more noise
during late night hours encouraged the bartenders to serve drunk women even more,
with a 95% chance of a female being served over a male.
The findings show that bars do not care what
state the clients are in as long as they buy more beer.
The research
was done by the Norwegian Institute of Alcohol and Drug Research.
The researchers concluded that bartenders are more likely to over-serve clients
with alcohol if they were drunk, with females being the best target, and if
there was loud music in the bar at late night hours.
