Do you think about exercising when you are at high school or upper high school? For a lot of teenagers, sports is more about having fun than keeping fit. There are few teenagers who worry about their health or physical fitness in this early stage of life because they are fresh and fit after all. It’s all about adventure, curiosity, experimenting and discovering your identity, not thinking about getting to 80 or 90 years in good condition.

The University of Southern Denmark has revealed that Danish teenage girls don’t like exercising or partaking in sports as much as the boys. The number of girls who like exercising has decreased for the past 20 years, while the number of Danish boys who like exercising is three times that of girls.
It seems a lot of teenage girls, aged between 16 and 19 years, will exercise only when their parents or family is interested in exercising. The research also revealed that the higher the education one’s family has, the more likely they are to partake in exercising. A teenager whose parents are interested in sports is more likely to develop an interest in sports too.

However, all hope is not lost because the girls realize the importance of exercising when they become young adults. Maybe after getting a job and earning money, it becomes easier to join a fitness club.
